Pain Management

With many symptoms it is hard to find one method of pain management.  Many people with Chiari suffer through each day.  Some medications can be worse for your body, and health than the symptoms themselves.  Before any of my major symptoms I would take Advil occasionally, then at one point I was on over 24 medications per day.  Which non of them worked...

In the last 2 years the only pain management I have been able to use, is being around my loving family and friends.  So I ask you, "What has worked for your pain?"

Have a wonderful and pain free night!

  1. What works for me with pain is a nice quiet room, sometimes dark room, I try to relax and breath properly. I don't do anything. The more I move the worse pain I will be in.

Also, when it;s unbearable I take a toradol with demoral and this usually helps me sleep or relax. I use a tie around collar.

    Hope this helps. Take care.

  2. Debra,

Thank you for your post! I have never had either one of those medicines before... The only thing I was prescribed was Vicodin. I don't like the way it makes me feel, so I try so hard not to take any. They say I'm limited on what pain meds I can have since I'm alergic to Imatrex.

  3. I've been decompressed and doing great except for tightness in my neck/shoulder area. I've found a womderful chioprator (no adjustment and my neck is off limits), who provides electrical stimulation, massage and ultsound. He is the only doctor who has managed to get me to 100% pain free, but I have to go at least twice/month. In the meantime, 2 Aleve work. I think I'm one of the lucky one's to have found a wonderful NS and chiopractor.

  4. Sue,

Thank you for your post! I haven't been lucky enough to have surgery. I need to find a good NS, I have traveled many places but for different reasons it hasn't worked out. I was told by one of my NS, it can be fatal, if I were to jam, or hurt my neck, or back, in any way. It just makes me nervous to see a chiopractor, at least at this point. However, I will keep it in mind!

I'm extremely glad that you have been able to be pain free! That is AWESOME! It is hard to find a wonderul NS, I am still in search of one.
